Overview

The department of Rural Management was setup to promote challenging opportunities in rural areas and recognizes, the qualities of innovation and integrity, creativity and commitment, perseverance and professionalism. The term ‘Rural’ which is emphasized in this stream, has very wide meaning, message and magnitude. It includes ‘Service Centre’ also, which in specific sense, are termed as urban-centers. If there is any functional difference between rural and urban, it is only that urban is a causal effect of rural, where as the rural in itself is the root cause. Considering the above facts in mind, the efforts being made to promote the students as best brains and committed professional managers, having holistic view of the development world, by providing them business environment in global knowledge village situations.

Mission

To be an agency of sustainable and systematic change, through identifying talented mad-caps, promoting them as professional managers, exploring basic problems and potential resources, designing multifaceted contours of planning and projects, establishing network-essentials with the governments development-agencies and beneficiary people, influencing-public policies and managing in a global knowledge village situations.

Vision

The department of Rural Management has double edge. It promotes a new breed of rural-professionals, having holistic view of the development world, including business drives and deep insight of rural wisdom, customs, problems, priorities, practices and projects, on the one hand and help rural organizations, institutions and agencies in professionalizing their management system and empowering-rural people, through self-sustaining approaches, on the other.

The department attempts to prepare young professionals through well structured two year full-time distinct post graduate courses as follows.

Ø M.A. in Rural Development.
