OVERVIEW

 Being a first formal rural university of the country, Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya is committed for protection and promotion of Folk arts, crafts and cultural heritage in it's jurisdiction. The university is making affords in this direction since inception. The department of professional arts has been established under the faculty in consonance of the philosophy of the rural university. The department has organised several programs to promote rural artisans and folk artists in the campus and out of the campus besides its academic programs meant for producing professionals of arts and crafts.

MISSION

To prepare and produce skilled and dedicated young professionals in the area of paintings, Applied art, Sculpture, regional folk arts & crafts, classical and folk music and other cultural manifestations.

OBJECTIVE

Ø To organise cultural programs in the campus as well as out of the campus necessary for promoting the rural talents related to the folk arts, crafts and culture.

Ø To organise short term training programs for rural artisans and artists.

Ø to organise intensive and effective academic programs to prepare and to produce professionals to cater the requirements of the society in the field of arts & crafts.

Ø To produce skilled and effective teachers of arts & crafts.
